Cotna Eco Retreat

Visitor Book

This has been a glorious week. The yurt is magical – like something from the Arabian Nights. And the wider space – Cotna – is so perfect, soothing and positive. There’s nothing like waking in the night to hear owls, nothing to beat cosying up in the evenings with a woodstove crackling. Thanks for everything, and for sharing your dreams with us. Edie, Paul, Alice (June 2016)

Thank you for a wonderful stay at Cotna. So relaxing and peaceful. The yurt had everything I could possibly have needed. The fresh vegetables and eggs were delicious, and Heidi the kitten was an added bonus!I loved exploring the surrounding area, especially Vault beach, possibly my favourite place in the world now!  I will definitely be back! Julia x (July 2016)

We had a glorious time here at Cotna, Dave & Sara are amazing and we loved having Heidi the kitten with us. We feel blessed to have stayed here and we will be back. The kids have loved the freedom of space and we as a family have truly enjoyed lots of adventures and laughter, surfing, swimming, climbing and cooking. Thank you! Gemma, Bash, Ted & Rosie (August 2016)

Thankyou for your warm welcome and hospitality – we have embraced every moment. With thanks to your guidance we have explored stunning coastline & ontryside which are embedded in our memory. The food you provide is beyond delicious and having Heidi as our yurt-mate made our experience even more wonderful. Thank you, Tony & Joanne (August 2016)

Thank you Dave for teaching us so much – going home to our allotment to put it all into practice . We learnt so much and we will be back! Jane & Paul (September 2016)

Thank you, it has been such fun staying in a lovely warm yurt when the fire is on. It is lovely at night, when you can look out the big window and you can see all of the beautiful stars. Eliza (10) October 2016

Thank you again for your warm hospitality. We all had an amazing time at Cotna and despite the cold, we felt very cosy at night. Thank you also for supplying us with delicious goodies from the vegetable gardens and the kitchen. We loved the suggested walks, especially ‘the best circular walk.’ We felt very close to nature: waking up to the symphony of the birds and drifting off to the hooting of the owls at night. Overall there was no better place to spend our mother’s birthday than here. We hope to come back to this peaceful haven soon, to explore more of Cornwall’s hidden gems. Lots of love, Meenakshi (14), Kalyani (18), Mango (5)  (April 2017)

What a beautiful yurt home this is! You really have something special going here. We love what you have done with the willows and the gardens. There is so much care and love gone into making this place what it is. It has been a very healing place to stay and we feel restored. Hope to be back again to learn how to make sourdough bread!! Jo & Adam (July 2016)

Thank you for our lovely stay! What a beautiful unique place in Cornwall – we will absolutely be back! Well done with the small details – they made our stay all the more special! So relaxing & beautiful – exactly what we needed. Grace & Andrew x

Thank you so much for a wonderful holiday – we all had a magical time! We all loved sleeping together in the yurt, cosy with the wood burner going; the children loved feeding the chickens and visiting the horses and we all loved the beautiful bread, jam and salad – thank you so much! We have thoroughly enjoyed exploring this corner of Cornwall, thank you for the food tips – we ate so well! Love Sunny, Emma, Rosa & Lou

This is a truly magical place. We love coming here … and have now tried all three yurts! All beautiful and full of the same love and care that seems to be at the base of everything here at Cotna. We have enjoyed the eggs and veg and being outside so much. The children flourish here and we go at a slower pace. Finding Cotna is finding peace, gratitude and awe at nature’s bounty and beauty. Beth, Henry, George, Pearl, Blythe and Lowen xxxxxx

As allotment owners we have felt inspired and will be heading home to build a compost loo! Charley, James & William (Sept 2016)

This place is an inspiration and a signpost to a better way of life. It’s amazing how everything links with, and feeds into, everything else. The yurt is so comfy too. We can honestly say that when it’s raining cats and dogs in the evening, there’s no better place to be than snuggled up in front of the woodburner in a yurt, ignoring the newspaper that announces the latest mad turn of events in the world! Thanks for being the perfect hosts and creators. Steve and Lynne from North Yorkshire Sept 2016

Ismay – Shepherd’s Hut

What a special, cosy place to stay, with everything you need provided – and none of the things you don’t. We enjoyed seeing and talking to the cats, dogs, chickens and horses as well as admiring the fruit, flower and vegetable gardens. With a pot of sage growing by the back door and rose and honeysuckle winding around, the Shepherd’s hut is a truly special place to stay! Pete & Hannah from Sheffield (June 2016)

Brilliant escape from day to day life. Can’t fault it and the food is amazing. It’s been a pleasure. Thank you! Danielle & Sam (Bognor Regis) July 2016

Thank you Ismay for keeping us dry & cosy. Thank you to the land for feeding us. Thank you Sara & Dave for providing delicious bread & pesto, smiles & love, light and luscious eggs! A peaceful week away. Royston & Boann September 2016

A wonderful escape from the hectic-ness of city life and the demands of the teaching profession. The kids enjoyed every minute of the freedom they encountered and learnt so much when they got involved in helping out around the farm. More people should aim to live with the values that Sara & Dave are promoting. We feel truly refreshed! Thank you!

Kerry-anne, Brenda, Yasmin & Amelie

A magical space in a wonderful place, where time is vague and relative (unless you are a blackbird!) Thanks for being so welcoming, so laid back and friendly, for the excellent detailed walking guide and the wonderful food springing up in this little patch of Eden.

Ben and Sonia (Somerset)

Thank you … being ‘just still’ has been just what I needed.

A peaceful, tranquil and refreshing time we have had. We’ve slept 10-12 hours every night, going to sleep to the owls and waking up to the chickens. You have made a very special place – one can feel the stillness of the countryside and the oak trees in the wood are wakening up. Thanks so much.

Helen & David (New Zealand)

A perfect 3 days away from everyday life – we don’t want to leave! Thank you for making this a tiny part of paradise. I’m sure we will be back!

Becky & Harry

What a truly beautiful place. Thank you for the peace.

Kuma & Kyozen

Wonderful waking up to the sunrise through the yurt door, swallows pattering on the yurt roof. So peaceful and happy here! Really loved picking salad and berries, and am now addicted to the best eggs in the world! Thank you lovely hens 🙂

Dimitar, Rob & Dagel

A wonderful, peaceful, magical place – a little piece of calm in an otherwise hectic life. Great walks and coast, way too much to cram into one week. We will see you again in the near future. ‘Diolch yn fair lawn’ x

Denise, Craig, Jake, Jorja and Tilly dog

Thank you for a wonderful Easter break at your wonderfully relaxing farm.  Couldn’t get enough of the bread, cosy fire and views. Even the howling wind added in for a bit of drama! Will definitely want to come back for longer … Lola would quite like it to become her second home!

Lindsay, Suzanne & Lola

Many thanks that we can share in this little slice of paradise for a week. We enjoyed the silence, the warm-heartedness, the fresh vegetables and salad leaves and the freedom for our children to participate with your wwoofers.

Anja, Albrecht, Raphael and Justus, Nadja, Germany

I’ve been coming here since I was 6 months old and each time it’s like a heaven on earth. But although I’ve only been to Cotna once or twice, it seems to me that everything about, in and around Cotna is more than a heaven on earth. It’s quiet, tranquil and a great friendly eco community. Thank you very much for a fabulour holiday, I hope to come back again soon.

George (aged 10)

Thank you Sara and Dave for a wonderful stay at Cotna. Beautiful, idyllic and restful! We felt at home from the moment we arrived. Looking forward to another visit soon.

Will & Kristina

You are shining people how to live a low impact lifestyle in a way that is not only sustainable but also beautiful. Many thanks for an inspiring and lovely place to stay. Lots of lovely touches, charm and enchantment. Sunsets and big skies; dawn choruses; strange feral sounds in the night; friendly WWOOFers and a warm welcome. May we take a piece of this peace back with us. Long may Cotna continue and flourish.

Jenni & Keron, Stroud

What a luxurious way to camp! Beautiful. Magical. Wonderful. We’ve had a fantastically relaxing time here. It’s just a very special place. THANKYOU!

Thank you for a wonderful stay. Such a peaceful weekend away from the ‘big city’, haven’t seen stars in awhile! Feel refreshed to start work again on Monday.

Ed & Hannah

Thank you for an amazing three nights. Kuti, Billy, Bos and Elderflower were a fantastic welcome wagon and the beach at Caerhays was sublimely beautiful.

Mona & Henry

My adventure in this beautiful and majestic land began every morning when I awoke in this lovely home without corners. The salad was fresh and picked from your life-filled garden. As I leave Cotna I cannot wait for when I next return.

A beautiful place and an amazing life force. Back next year definitely. Already looking forward to it!

Had such a lovely weekend away. Peaceful escape from the hectic lives we lead. Our dog loved exploring & cosying up in the yurt too. Thanks for your warm & welcoming retreat.

Rebecca, Adam & Riley

What a haven of peace & tranquility – thank you for making this such a relaxing place to be & for the warm welcome. The weather gods have been good to us, no bad TV news, just this green space and simple living – heaven to awake on a sun-shining morning in this yurt. We’ll come again!!

Thank you so much for these wonderful days! I’ll never forget this place, its magic and all the little things you did to make me feel so happy. You are so lovely! Thank you and hope to stay again soon.

Many thanks for providing exactly what we wanted—peace, quiet and a beautiful setting to spend time together without work or school worries. We have laughed a lot! Thanks for everything, we’ve loved it! The peace has been great. Kind regards

Liz & Ella

Lovely stay. Cosy, friendly and peaceful. Thanks for making it exist.

Paul & Christine

This has been one of the best holidays we have had. There is a great sense of community and harmony on the farm which is fantastic. Our daughter has loved the freedom Cotna has to offer and the morning strolls to visit the horses & chickens. You have been great hosts and what you have created at Cotna is inspirational. We will definitely be returning and would highly recommend it to other people considering a yurt holiday in Cornwall.

Tom, Charlotte, Florence, Jack & Paddy

Lovely birthday treat, great place—very  inspiring.  Great woodburner, very cosy. Thank you.

Sian & George Bircher, Ludlow Shrops

Perfection! Thank you for a great stay. This truly is a beautiful place! We hope to be back again.

Sarah & Paul

Where to start? We’ve enjoyed ourselves so much getting to know this BEAUTIFUL land/sea-scape around you have, that it’s beginning to feel like ‘home’ – especially after one of your  brilliant recommended walks – great to then get snug in this lovely straw bale house. Such a good job is being done here – having been ‘in the business’ we know there’s a lot of graft as well as craft and this smallholding of yours is SUCH a good example of just how it should be. THANKYOU!

Chris & Helen, Somerset

We’re back for the second year running and have had yet another wonderfully relaxing stay at this peaceful haven. We’ve really enjoyed soaking up the sun on the deck and snuggling up by the log burner n the chilly evenings. We’ve also loved walking down the beautiful valley to Portmellon and Mevagissey and having a quiet pint at the Barley Sheaf pub. Looking forward to seeing you next time!

Katherine, Trier, Lily

The doctor told me I was stressed. He did his best but when pressed, prescribed me space away from the ‘rat race’ and going at a slower pace. And so I stayed in this barn and I don’t wanna spin a yarn. But with freedom to ‘just be’ and time for only me I had a chance to unwind. Dave and Sara were so kind. So I just wanna say before the end of my stay… this is such a wonderful place and now I have a happy face! With thanks and good wishes.

Nicki, St Austell

The barn was sunny and inspirational—the perfect place to revitalize ourselves.  We walked, read and were enticed by the landscape to explore. The fruit, vegetables, salads and of course all the wonderful preserves were the icing on the cake—so delicious and delightful. We wish you all the very best for future happiness and success here at Cotna.

Susan and Vic, East Sussex

Thank you for a wonderful couple of days here. Shame we couldn’t have stayed longer. Your straw bale barn is lovely—thank you for accommodating us all! Definitely be back so see you soon.

Lisa, Neil, Helen, Logan & Chillie (our dog)

Thank you so much for our lovely relaxing stay at the strawbale barn! We will always remember our time here and are already sad to leave! We really enjoyed the long walks along the coastline, relaxing in the orchard and trying out your delicious organic eggs, bread, salad and beetroot!

Jane, Michael & Eddie

Fabulous! So relaxing and quiet—lovely people, cats and dogs. We will miss your cat Kiwi who has become our constant breakfast companion. Sitting out on the deck or lying in the shade of the trees and watching the birds was just great. Thanks for the walks Dave—we really enjoyed the one we did and the description was spot on. It’s been a really lovely time.

Jade & Alastair

Thank you for a lovely break in your yurt. It’s been wonderful to stop and rest surrounded by beautiful nature and bird song. We really enjoyed doings lots of walking, playing scrabble by candlelight and not knowing what time it is! For a good days walk we recommend Cotna-Porthluney Cove—Dodman Point—Gorran Haven—ending a with a pint / icecream in Mevagissey.
